Praise Be Unto Our Jesus!!!
My God, My God, how time is flying by, it is already the middle of February….
My heart is beating so strongly for the Hope that is present through the work of Jesus’ Holy Spirit…
I am so very thankful that He has allowed me to receive, of the greatest gift that a man can. He has allowed me to become born again, not through mankind, but through the Holy Spirit by faith. No greater work will man ever accomplish, while on this earth…
This life on earth is so dry and we are thirsting for refreshing water. Well, welcome to Hope as Jesus is the wellspring of life and Hope is an “OASIS” in the desert of life. There are many different battles in this life and if you ask for Gods’ help He could possibly direct you to Hope, a Christian place of respite, to help get through the choking dryness of this life. All of our counselors have come through different battles, and we have received the comfort that comes from the comforter. This is a universal comfort, so we can also comfort those in their trials. We have freely received of the comfort, so we freely give it away. If you are feeling that this could possibly be you, where the worries, doubts, and fears of this life is making the word of God unproductive and of no avail, then please get in touch with us at: www.hopeministriesflorida.org or call us at 321-676-5588 to make an appointment…
We pray to be the extension of Gods’ Heart for you as we continue to “Help Hearts Heal” In Christ, Joe & Staff

LINDA DIXON, BIBLICAL COUNSELOR ~ FACILITATOR
“LOVE IS A CHOICE” THE DEFINITIVE BOOK ON LETTING GO OF UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS.
Codependency (in its broadest sense) can be defined as "an addiction to people, behaviors, or things.”Codependency is the fallacy of trying to control interior feelings by controlling people, things, and events on the outside. To the codependent, control or the lack of it is central to every aspect of life. God wants us to have healthy relationships with a balance between being dependent and independent. The most effective means for overcoming codependent relationships is to establish a relationship with Christ Himself. Ladies, let’s take this healing journey together from Codependency to interdependence with God the one with the power to bring it about. SHELTER FROM THE STORM ~ HOPE FOR SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ABUSE
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare of the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting Him, for He will rescue you from every trap, and protect you from the fatal plague. He will shield you with His wings. He will shelter you with His feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. PSALM 91; 1-4 Every fourth woman you see may have experienced sexual abuse as a child. In addition to the children who are sexually abused; many adults have been assaulted by an acquaintance or stranger. The book is designed to help you grow from a survivor to an overcomer and even thrive. Recognize old coping skills that no longer work and help you learn new life skills. As you seek recovery from the effects of sexual abuse you learn to put your faith and trust in God through Christ to restore your spiritual and emotional health. THE SEARCH for SIGNIFICANCE, (Seeing your TRUE WORTH through GOD’S EYES)
This study will focus on how our thoughts affect our emotional, relational and spiritual development. Our feelings, behavior, and beliefs all interact to shape our lives. The goal is to enable a wide range of people to apply the Scriptures specifically and deeply to real issues in their lives. There are two possible options we can choose to determine our self-worth. The world’s system: is
Self-Worth=Performance (what you do + Other’s Opinions), (what others think or say about you). God’s System: is Self-Worth = God’s Truth about You. God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. EPHESIANS 1: 3-4.
Call Linda Dixon at Hope Ministries 321-676-5588 to make an appointment on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, 9-4 PM

LEW GERVAIS, ADDICTIONS ~ PASTORAL COUNSELOR
Habits Traditions Addictions
Hope Ministries was closed over the holidays for two weeks. As long as I have been at Hope we have been following the Brevard School schedule. I am sure you have heard the saying, “But we’ve always done it that way,” When I first came to Hope Ministries, twenty something years ago, most of the staff at that time had school age children, so we followed the school schedule to make it easier to be off when our kids were off. With the exception of the long summer break we have continued to follow the school schedule every year. The ironic thing is that none of the staff at Hope today have children in the school system. At our last staff meeting the question was brought up whether we should continue to follow the Brevard school schedule or not. After some discussion the decision was made to stick with our tradition and continue to follow the school schedule, even though the reason we originally did it is no longer valid. So about now you might be asking; “what does that have to do with the price of eggs in China?” Well it might not have anything to do with the price of eggs…anywhere, but it does teach us about human nature and how we tend to be creatures of habit.
When people come to my office with life controlling, and/or destructive life habits, it is not hard to see this same scenario playing out in their everyday lives. Making the decision to put down the alcohol, drugs or pornography is a relatively quick and easy decision to make. However, it is a totally different thing to break the habit of running to those things, whenever they feel stressed, lonely, frustrated, bored, or anxious. Repetitive addicting behaviors have trained their brain to take them down a particular path whenever they experience any perceived negative emotion; and in most cases that is totally done, without their permission, and totally on a subconscious level. After someone makes the decision to put the drug or behavior down for good, the hard work begins. The very next step will be for that person to become aware of the old patterns of thought they subconsciously travel down whenever they find themselves triggered or tempted. The person in recovery has to first recognize that old thought pattern then creates a new path to travel down, when the old familiar feelings of getting high surface. It takes six to eight weeks to unlearn or break a thought pattern; and at least another six to eight weeks to create and establish a new pattern of thoughts. That is why in the secular field of recovery, addicts are instructed to attend at least 90 recovery meetings in 90 days. That is at least one meeting a day for three months. The reason this works for many people is because it serves to interrupt the old pattern of getting high, and helps them start to build a new more healthy habit of attending recovery meetings especially when they are feeling weak or tempted.
I agree that old habit patterns must be broken and replaced with new healthier habits, but simply hanging out with other addicts and attending 12 step meetings the rest of their life isn’t necessarily the best investment of time for their future. I totally see the value of attending as many recovery meetings as possible in early recovery, but as a person matures in their recovery, and their walk with Christ, they will need to surround themselves with other believers who will be able to challenge them to continue to grow spiritually. I have always seen recovery meetings as a, means to an end, and not as a sinkhole, that addicts fall into for the rest of their lives, in order to stay clean, and sober. God has way more in store for the person who has recovered from an addiction than to attend recovery meetings the rest of their lives. As the person matures in his or her walk with God, they will become more stable and mature in every other area of their lives. Those who simply fall into the sinkhole of recovery meeting attendance will soon reach a ceiling or a plateau that could even hinder them from real Spiritual growth. That is why I do not see my mission as being complete when someone is drug free and simply attending recovery meetings. When I see someone walk away from their addiction and fall into the arms of Jesus, then I know they are in a safer place where Spiritual growth can continue as they are led by their Savior. I ask for your prayers for these people that they would truly learn to walk with Christ, so that He can grow them into the person He wants them to be. Sobriety and maturity in my book looks like Christ. When I see Jesus in their lives I know they are on the right road. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support. You are a vital part of this ministry and your involvement is appreciated more than you will ever know. Because of Christ, Lew Gervais

Enjoying life the way God intends. Jesus said in John 10:10, I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Romans 12: 2. Divine revelation occurs when the Holy Spirit takes a truth from the Word of God and causes it to come alive to us. If you would be interested in attending this study please let him know.
