Mundy Newsletter 2008
April 15, 2008
In January this year, Howard and I moved over one building and up one floor. Our previous apartment was like living in a treehouse. Now we have a wonderful view of the Eau Gallie River and all the accompanying animal life. Fish jumping, many kinds of birds, canoes, kyacks, manatees and dolphins are seen almost daily. The new apartment is slightly smaller than the last, but better for us in many ways. The greatest advantage is that the rent is $300.00 a month less. We still have a spare bedroom for any who are up to climbing to the third floor.
Hope Ministries continues faithfully to fulfill our calling of "Helping Hearts Heal". It is such a blessing to be a part of that calling. On a weekly basis I see an average of 9-12 women, and am currently co-facilitating a 12 Step group, Conquering Codependency, that started last August.
The typical woman who steps into this office for the first time could be described by this definition of burnout :
"a person being in a state of fatigue or disillusionment brought about by a dedication to a way of life which failed to bring the expected reward." ("The Bonsai Conspiracy", Paul Anderson-Walsh, pg 9) Often, one of the first scriptures we look at together is Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Giving up one's way of doing life, (production) is not easy. God must pry our fingers off the "control" button. This is where the counseling ministry of Hope Ministries can be helpful and supportive. Most of us can identify with the concept of being weary and burdened. Very few know what to do from there. Learning to live by faith and let God be God does bring rest to our souls, and results in lives which bring rewards never even imagined!
