NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2015

Dec 4, 2015

Praise Be Unto Jesus! He is our all in all.
Psalms 24:1 says “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.” How grateful and thankful I am that He allowed me to be part of Hope Ministries for this particular day.

There are many ways to see Hope, and one way is to see us as an oasis in the desert of life. A place where weary soldiers of Christ can come to receive comfort, strength and rehabilitation as needed. Our Father’s heart has always been the same from the beginning to the end. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Hope Ministries is not here to change your denomination or the church you choose to attend. We are like unto a Spiritual Switzerland, neutral as to denomination but surely alive unto Christ by faith. Paul in Galations5:6 says; “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. We know the best is yet to come, the return of Jesus to collect all those that believe in His name by (Faith) and are walking in His love for us.
So if you are feeling worried, weary and battling the riches of this life, give us a call at (321) 676-5588 and come in and get a refreshing drink of living water. “If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink.” John 7:37
We will help you to be able to receive so you will once more be able to give back to those who are hurting around you.
WILL BE LOOKING FOR YOU SOON!! Blessings and Life, Joe

SHEILA PELLIZZE

Whatever day you get to read this newsletter for the first time, it holds a message for you to remember from Psalms 118:24,
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Easier said than done you say? You don’t know how filled up my calendar is of events I’m committed to as a wife, mother then church and Hope. These are important things I must do and get done for everyone I’m responsible for in my life. That is exactly what I’m referencing in the message of this newsletter. Re-read the scripture above, and shrink down your calendar to one day at a time and give the day to the Lord by Faith. How can I do that?
The Lord tells us in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” If we could just grasp these two scriptures from the Lord; if we walk by Faith each day in the Lord, being thankful and grateful to him for all that He has done for us then our life would be shed of all the strife, stress, and despair we put upon ourselves. We think we are in control of our life, but God Is In Control. He is the Alpha and Omega. We are His instruments to use, to walk each day by Faith, to share His Love, His Joy and His Peace, to all He brings into our lives. Hope Ministries is here to help hurting hearts heal through encouraging and edifying your life in Christ.
Blessings, Sheila

PEGGY BRIEDE
I thank God as he continues to comfort me and guides me through all that the world tries to throw at me. God has confirmed to me many times that it is He that I am to rely on and not the world. God gives me that opportunity each time someone comes into my office for healing from him. We just finished a grief share support group at Hope Ministries, and having witnessed the healing that is taking place I feel so blessed that God picked me to be part of his promise as stated in 2Corth.1:4. “He comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. God continues to bless me through the events that we put together at
Hope to share with all; that there is Hope for everyone not just some but all. Praise God!

Our class “Love Is A Choice” has three more weeks. It has been a long journey, but a very fulfilling one emotionally and spiritually. We have learned who we were, who we are becoming through His love by His grace. This was our first study of this book, but definitely not the last. I will keep you informed of what the next study will be and when. Thanks to the ladies who made it all the way through this study. I hope it was as enlightening for you as it was for me. To God be the Glory forever more! When Moses asked God what His name was He answered “I AM,” He is Omni Present (Ever Present with us always) I don’t know about you but that truth brings me comfort and peace. Your forever sister in Christ, Linda

LEW GERVAIS, ADDICTIONS~PASTORAL COUNSELOR

Many of the people that I see in my office are quick to mention that they believe in God. However after talking with them for a few more minutes it becomes obvious that their concept of “god” and my understanding of the God of the Bible are miles apart and that their relationship with that god is nothing like the relationship we can have with our Creator. These days with the New Age movement and the talk about “spirituality”, I am seeing that many people are not at all clear on what they believe about who God is. They tend to fashion god after their own human understanding tainted by their personal experiences, hurts, and traumas. And they use his help like they would a genie in a bottle to help them get out of trouble. In other words they shape and fashion their own god. No wonder they end up confused as to God’s role in their lives and their recovery. In my approach to clear the flack I usually ask targeted questions to bring out what they actually believe about God the Father, the Holy Spirit and about Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. Most people are somewhere on a continuum. Many people get stuck on that road somewhere between hating and tolerating God. My prayer is sometimes a difficult task especially if their only intake of spiritual nourishment is what they gleam from secular 12 step meetings. In that environment a person can learn about God but never learn to trust Him when their life becomes chaotic. And at that point the next relapse is just around the corner.

This week I had the honor and the privilege of leading someone to faith in Christ in my office. It was obvious that he was well prepared by the Holy Spirit and delivered to my office at just the right time. I often see tears on the face of people sitting in my office but most of the time those tears are the result of the pain and turmoil in their lives; but this day the tears on this gentleman’s face were there because of the joy of the Lord. I love it when that happens.

What is the ultimate objective of recovery? I ask people that question daily because the way they answer that question will reveal their true heart. If they believe recovery means returning their life to its pre-drug condition then they are setting themselves up to walk around the mountain again. That mountain trail looks like this;

•   Clean and sober
•   bad relationship choices,
•   avoiding accountability; skipping meetings
•   sabotaging healthy friendships
•   testing and then relapse
•   drug use and street living for a season
•   Possible jail time and/or detox
•   Back to halfway house living
And then the cycle starts over again. I know people who have walked around this mountain trail every two or three months for decades and they are none the wiser for their experiences. When they end up in my office again they promise to try harder and often at the beginning they do try harder. But all of their striving leaves them walking that mountain trail again. To save space and time let me give you the abridged answer to their dilemma: After all their travels they are still convinced that they can do a better job running their life than God will. They want to remain in control of their lives but call of God’s help when they find themselves in trouble. Matthew 6:33 (NCV) Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants then all your other needs will be met as well. Many are only seeking God’s help but not His Kingdom or His rule in their lives. Please pray that the eyes of their understanding will be opened and that they will come to see God as God and not as the puppet god they have created to help them avoid drugs.
Because of Christ, Lew Gervais
