GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT, JOE PELLIZZE
Glory unto our Jesus who is the all in all especially for those who are born again of His awesome Holy Spirit.
Sometimes I get the fantastic privilege to see God’s work manifest itself here on earth in this natural realm. I was allowed to partake in the fulfillment of His heart for a sister in Christ and her battle weary family, as we all are learning to walk in His footsteps leading to a life of Love, Joy and Peace; the reality of His Kingdom upon this earth.
I want to be quite clear, we are not exempt from the battles, but the opposite, we‘re called to go through them with our Jesus leading the way…
I want to take the time to thank all the Staff and Volunteers for a wonderful year of 2014 and for the beginning of 2015 with 2 Corinthians 5:7. We live by Faith, not by sight. What a faithful family of God’s people sharing His love to all who attend Hope as we continue to rely on Hebrews 11:6, “Without Faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.
We Bless and love you all as we look forward to a Faith filled New Year 2015. Blessings and Life….. In Christ, Joe
I am blessed to be ordained into the Ministry, as of November 30.2014, at Hope Ministries and a disciple for our Lord Jesus Christ. I am truly honored that he has chosen me to help him comfort others 2Corth.1:3-4. Praise to God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in need with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. I will be counseling at Hope Ministries for grief and for those who have or had a family member who is struggling with addiction.
January 31, 2015 is the last meeting of this Mourning to Joy Grief Share Group 13 week series. We will be providing this group three times a year. The next series will be announced via our website (see above). I have been blessed to watch God at work for the grieving of a son, husband, and girlfriend through this group. Hearts are Healing through the power of our Heavenly Father.
In addition to that we are in progress of planning Hope Ministries 5th Annual Fundraiser for 2015, so we can continue to Help Hearts Heal. This event will take place on April 24th at Palm Bay Community Center located at 1502 Port Malabar Blvd. NE, Palm Bay, Fl 32905
As I sit at my desk at Hope Ministries and look out the window, there is a four way intersection. There is a stop sign on the east and west sides and north and south have the right of way. It is very busy during the daytime hours due to many commercial businesses and delivery trucks. If drivers obey the laws of the road, there should be no problems there. However, I sit here day after day and witness so many poor choices and calamities, when someone who should have stopped didn't and those who have the right of way having to come to a complete stop for those not paying attention.
People are distracted by the things of this world. As the D.O.T. directs signs and speed limits, etc. for the roads and drivers, our God is the Director of our lives. All the signs on the road are useless if you, as a driver don’t pay attention to them. Likewise, our life is directed by faith and trusting in God. If we trust in our own directions and things of this world, our poor choices and calamities will affect those around us. As Christians, we get caught up in the daily things of this world and rely on ourselves and aren’t relying on our heavenly Father. Hope Ministries is here to redirect our hearts and minds into the Word of God where we can receive His rest, His comfort, and His healing through the Holy Spirit. All of us have fender bender moments in our life, but we have the Mighty Blessed Assurance in God. Blessings, Sheila
Thank you, Father that we have been given this perfect treasure that we carry in fragile, imperfect, fleshly bodies. As a new year begins our hearts are full of joy and thanks that God has placed us in situations where we learned of His wonderful love and well laid plans to Bless us with His only Son’s life. It is a mystery and a miracle that Jesus lives in us and causes us to become like Him, because He sacrificed His life for us. When we gave our lives to Him, He began to and completed all that was ruined and useless.
We are humbled and grateful that here at Hope Ministries we are able to share with so many others “what we received as of first importance; that Christ died for our sins according to scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day” 1Corth. 15:3-4. We desire for all to have the fellowship that we have with one another and with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In His Love, Mary Fischer
We are wrapping up a wonderful study of the book “The Search for Significance” (Seeing your true worth through God’s eyes) by Robert S. McGee. It is about knowing who you are in Christ, learning who God created you to be, and not being the product of a fallen world. I’m sure we will do it again.
We will take a break and do another great study of the book “Love Is A Choice” (The definitive book on letting go of unhealthy relationships) by Dr.’s R. Hemfelt, F. Minirth, and P. Meier beginning on March 2, 2015 at Hope Ministries 1805 Canova St. SW, Ste. 1, Palm Bay, Fl. Monday’s, 5:30-7:00PM. Book cost is $15.00.
Please call Hope Ministries @ 321-676-5588 if you plan to attend by February 15, 2015 so books can be ordered.
This is about all kinds of relationships with mother; father, brother, sister, friend, and co-workers, not just romantic ones.
LEW GERVAIS, ADDICTIONS/PASTORAL COUNSELOR
I just got back from a short stay at His Mansion in New Hampshire. I went to take part in their graduation ceremony.
Ten of the residents graduated the program; seven men and three women. Each one got up in front of the 80 to 100 people in the room and shared their story. The common thread that I heard from most of them was how God used the community to get them over the rough times. Many testified that they would have quit the program and returned to their former lifestyle that they knew so well; but God used their brothers and sisters living on the hill to carry them over the rough roads. Here is what I took away from that graduation: Addictions are not something that can be overcome in isolation, nor is it something that can be overcome by going to church or even by attending recovery meetings once or twice a week. Addictions can only be overcome when we become a part of a community and walk out our recovery with the help of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Life cannot be lived in isolation and neither can recovery be realized alone. In that two and a half hour meeting I witnessed ten awesome living miracles. It took God and the ministry of His Mansion a full year to change the direction and future of these ten people. I know that the majority of those young men and women would not be where they are today had they tried to change their lives by attending church or meetings alone.
For over a year now I have been trying to help an alcoholic who is in the very last stage of her alcoholism. She has been through detox more than a dozen times in the last seven years. Every time she comes out of the detox center she comes out determined and committed to working a recovery program of meetings and counseling but within a few weeks to a month she begins to come up with excuses as to why she can’t meet for counseling or go to church or attend meetings. Then she isolates and within a few days is back to drinking herself into an early grave. Once she starts drinking there is no reasoning that can convince her to quit. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that alcohol has the ability to hijack the brain in such a powerful way that all reasoning and knowledge flies right out the window. That is where a community of believers living together can impact someone’s life by exposing the addict’s faulty thinking and encouraging them to continue walking with Christ in recovery. As they learn to walk with Christ, “arm and arm” they experience a power in their lives that changes them inside and out forever. A community of believers living and walking together can tap into a synergy that can change lives in a powerful way. That is what I witnessed in that graduation. God has wired us for relationships and it is in relationships that real change can be realized. Lew Gervais
