HOPE MINSITRIES NEWSLETTER “A RAY OF HOPE” Greetings from Joe Pellizze, President Well, here we are almost a year later and it is Christmas time! As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, may we be willing, this coming year to stand firm in our faith; that our Jesus was born of a virgin, crucified, and resurrected. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. Oh, how we love Jesus and oh, how the Father loves us! I would like to thank all the great, generous, and giving staff at Hope Ministries this year. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. To all who have silently given to us at Hope, whether in prayer or financially, “Merry Christmas may our God continue to bless us all” In Christ, Joe MINISTRY FOCUS Gateway to Life Tom and Barbara Murgatroyd A ministry dedicated to bringing hope to the lives of men and women incarcerated in prisons and their families. Although our main focus has turned toward the after-care of inmates and their families, during most of November and all of December, our energy and prayers have been directed toward Angel Tree. Through Angel Tree, an inmate can request gifts for their children, send Christmas messages to them, and know that the gifts will be delivered to the children in their name. This maintains the continuity of the family and reassures the child that Mom or Dad still loves them and hasn’t forgotten them. Being responsible for assigning children to the entire county of Brevard is a monumental task, but one which brings more blessings that we can relate. Thanks to all who have given to these often forgotten children through Angel Tree, because of you they will receive Christmas gifts just like other children whose families are not torn apart by incarceration. If you, or your church are interested in participating in the 2008 season; call us at Hope Ministries 321-676-5588 YEAR IN REVIEW BE A PARTNER IN HOPE TO “HELP HEARTS HEAL” At Hope Ministries 2007 will be a year remembered, as a year of change. A new and worthy President, Joe Pellizze. Joe is led by God and lovingly leads his staff. As Director of Development, I have seen the “Development” of a new full scale interactive website, a regular newsletter, fundraising efforts and amazing dedicated volunteers. The results we have experienced can only be attributed to God’s creative work in action and He alone receives the Glory and Praise. This work and its’ results comes with a cost that includes a monetary cost! Hope Ministries has been “Helping Hearts Heal” since 1994 and we need your financial help, if we are going to continue this much needed work. Please consider sending a Christmas gift to hope Ministries and help us keep “Hope" alive! I pray God will bless and keep you and make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you in 2008. Thank you for helping us heal hurting hearts! “Merry Christmas”! You may mail your gift to: 2020 Palm Bay Rd, Ste 1, Palm Bay, Fl 32905, or you can give online at www.hopeministriesflorida.org (go to the Help us Heal Hearts button & follow the links) COUNSELOR’S CORNER Louis Verini I began to minister to others soon after I received Christ as my Savior forty five years ago. I shared with others what happened to me and it ministered life and healing to them. Along the way opportunities came and I grew in stature and grace. As I freely received from God I freely gave to others. To acquire more knowledge, I started taking Christian and secular training courses. The information was helpful in many ways. Although the response was good, it was not the same and the results didn’t always measure up to the effort expended. Recently I was prompted by a scripture in II Timothy 1:6, to “stir up the gift that is in me.” I believe this gift, of the Holy Spirit is to be stirred by “Him” in me daily. Remarkably counselees have been responding, in almost supernatural ways, to the simple biblical truth of Gods’ word spoken to them by me, under the power of the Holy Spirit. God is reminding me that the healing the counselees are receiving is not by my might and effort but “By My Spirit sayeth the Lord.” Seekers don’t need to be coddled, criticized or condemned! They do need to be told God’s truth in love. As they respond to the “Word of Life”, God restores them to health and wholeness. As Biblical Counselors we must seek the wisdom that comes from God; combined with the knowledge he has given us and trust the results completely to him. After all, he promises to do more than we could ever do, ask or think! We wish you a life changing Christmas and New Year! CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD CLOSING COMMENTS Many wonderful things have happened at Hope Ministries in 2007. Most notably was the succession to President by Joe Pellizze, who has taken the reigns of leadership from me and has done very well. Under Joe’s leadership the good work of ministry has continued in our four distinct ministry areas, as we continue “Helping Hearts Heal”. Another significant achievement has been the emergence, of the Development Department under the guidance of Diana Sivadon, with the accomplishment of our first annual luncheon and a new web page. OUR VALUABLE VOLUNTEERS I would like to thank all the great, generous, and giving volunteers at Hope Ministries, this year. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. To all who have silently given to us at Hope, whether in prayer or financially, “Merry Christmas may our God continue to bless us all” In Christ, Joe Hope Ministries Prayer Requests We have suffered physically, as staff and volunteers. Most of us have had real physical struggles. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to purpose, in our hearts to serve the Lord.
